What do we want students to know and to be able to accomplish? What should they know and be able to accomplish to prepare them for their future in an everevolving-fastpace-world. Curriculum should be proficiency driven and relevant to students' developmental stages. It's good to teach at the higher end level of the academic spectrum if expectations remain realistic (according to students' abilities and development) and clearly communicated (goals should be clearly stated)... which leads to more specific admission requirements!
Yes! We also need to be sure that our curriculum is not missing any important aspect of education/art/social that is needed for our students to succeed.
In the utube that Marlynn sent us the words at the end were remember, understand, apply, collaborate, analyze, create, and communicate. They were referring to projects that students were working on with other students across the world. We have the technology to achieve this and have already started these kinds of collaborations. Our "excellent" curricculum needs to teach the children to remember, understand, apply, collaborate, analyze, create, and communicate so that the students will be prepared for whatever jobs that become available to them even if the jobs do not currently exist.
